Philip Von Sahr, President of BMW Group India announced the launch of BMW i8 in India as a completely build-up (CBU) unit by the end of 2014. The all new BMW i8 has the dual benefit of a petrol engine, as well as an electric motor, which provides you an outstanding driving experience. Apart from this, the BMW i8 has the best efficiency and maximum dynamics in its class. Installed with the BMW e-Drive, which is the latest BMW drive technology, you can charge the battery of the car from any mains socket or while you are taking a luxurious ride. The electric drive of the BMW i8 is a powerful 96kW (131hp) and is located on the front axle.
The BMW TwinPower Turbo 1.5 litre, 3 cylinder petrol engine with 231 hp drives the rear axle. The twin units of the car provide a total of 362 hp, accelerating it to 100 kmph in 4.4 seconds.
The BMW i8 has another attractive feature. As per the EU test cycle, the car has record low fuel consumption (40kmpl) as well as a very low CO2 emission (59g/km).
The amazing super car from BMW will launch in India by late this year and is expected to cost around Rs. 1.50 crore, ex-showroom, New Delhi.
